If you are going by the 2008-2009 Farmers' Almanac winter outlook then thats what it says.

The 192 year old world famous almanac is warning those who are hoping for a mild winter, to prepare for the worst. Read the whole story here....

So how accurate is this forecast? Well according to the almanac, they boast to have an accuracy rate of 80-85% And disturbingly their predictions for last winter seemed to have verified.  Read: Predictions ring true: Almanac accuracy from last winter!

The funny thing, is that the Climate Prediction center is predicting the exact opposite, with a slightly warmer than average winter and an equal chance of having above/below average precipitation. Get their outlooks here. However, if the Almanac's prediction verifies, then this winter will no doubt be very interesting. You decide which one you believe.
